A Birthday

Today is Matt's birthday. He so isn't an 'attention-birthday-loving' person, but he is a good sport for me. This morning he opened his presents (that were no surprise to him, but I still made him wait) and then after a quick bagel and yoghurt breakfast (we were out of eggs... Oops) he was on his way to work. And somehow he survived the day without telling anyone it was his birthday. He seriously just goes about like it's any old day. That boy. One of his mentors at work did take him out to lunch today though (not knowing it was his birthday) so that was a nice coincidence.

Blake greeted Matt after work with lots of fun plans to build blocks. It was painful to have to pull Blake to the dinner table, he was having so much fun with his dad. We were able to break in our new birthday plate that we made at Color Me Mine on my birthday a few months ago. We had some yummy hot meat sandwhiches.

Then we were able to celebrate with our friends! I made Matt's favorite cake (banana cake with brown butter frosting) to share and we went swimming indoors at our friend's club house. Blake was so full of energy and loved having his dad chase him around the pool. We are working on the 'no running' thing. But we survivors without any majors falls.

It was a great day. Matt is such a great dad and husband and we are so lucky to have him.
