Tonight our family joined with two other families for a fun night at Johansen's farm- a Halloween/fall type village geared towards kids. Matt spent the last week in Dallas for training so it was extra nice to be able to have him with us. We had such an enjoyable time visiting with our friends and watching the kids have a great time. They were able to pet chicks, feed all sorts of animals (one goat got pretty aggressive with Blake and nipped at his fingers), go down a huge slide, and go on pony, hay, and train rides. We ended our time there with apple cider donuts. Blake shoved his in his mouth quickly when Matt asked for a bite. He was in heaven the whole night and now knows the word 'donut' well.
Afterwords we all met at Five Guys for dinner. It's ok that we had dessert first, right? The cashier thought Katie, Kortnee, and I we were all sisters and that our kids were cousins. Our kids do all look a like so I can see why they thought that! When three young, mormon families gather at a restaurant it's bound to get a bit crazy and Blake was the ring leader in 'racing' to the soda fountain and back. It's fun having friends that have kids Blake's age! He is such a show off and loves his friends.
So with a written explanation out of the way, here is our night in pictures.
In other news, we are half-way through this pregnancy. This pregnancy has gone by so fast. We find out the gender of the baby on Wednesday! Can't wait! We both feel like it's a boy but we will see. :)
Matt's little sister, Brooke, was called to be a missionary for our church in our mission!!! It's so crazy that she will be serving her mission here but we are so excited for her (and us)!
Matt's other sister, Mal, is expecting a baby just a few weeks after us. They found out they are expecting a boy! We are so excited for Blake to finally have a cousin on his Jensen/Davis side.
Matt was asked to go to Utah this coming weekend for a recruiting event at BYU for Deloitte. With Matt getting a paid trip back to Utah and Blake still flying free, we couldn't turn down the opportunity to all go back for a few days! Even though we are loving life in Illinois, we miss family and so it will be so nice to be home for a few days.
We are almost all moved into our new house. We finally are able to park both cars in the garage now (meaning it isn't being used to store boxes anymore) and we only have a couple more boxes to put away... I really am waiting until we can go to Ikea and get a few dressers/ book cases. I love our new home and it feels so comfortable. I'll post some pictures when we get our pictures hung.
Even with Matt gone all last week (being a single mom is hard and exhausting if you were wondering), life has been really great to us here. We seriously already love it. We are so lucky to be able to live in such a great place, surrounded by wonderful, talented people. And as an added bonus, the most amazing ice cream creamery is right around the corner from our place. Their chocolate peanut butter ice cream is to die for! I wish I could post a sample on my blog so you all could try it, but you will just have to come visit us. :)
