We (very comically) brought home 50 balloons to decorate with. (We had them in the bed of a truck and held onto the strings through the window... Pretty sure it was illegal. Good thing we live close to the party store.) Dinner was grilled steak and chicken with watermellon, patato salad, and baked beans. Robyn made an incredible chocolate cake for dessert. I kept my mom out of the house so the rest of the crew could set up.
My mom was totally surprised! She was confused wondering who's birthday it was. She was happily surprised when we told her it was hers! My dad normally gets home from work at 6:30 but unusually long work meetings made it so we had to celebrate with him the next morning.
Each of us kids and my grandparents wrote 5 things we love about our parents in this little book. My little brother on a mission in Taiwan even emailed us his so we had some from everyone on. In total we had 50 things. The title of the books says, "We love you... x 50"
It was a fun evening to celebrate our wonderful parents.
