What's Walking?

Why would you ever want to walk when you can crawl everywhere you want to go?? Blake has had zero interest in walking the last few months. He has been as happy as a peach perfecting his crawl and improving his speed, all the while babies left and right who are months younger are learning to walk. We are ok with that though. He has such a curious interest for life and I think has been distracted by other things to give another mode of movement any thought. With all that said though.... Blake took his first official steps last night! He walked from the coffee table to his dad sitting on the couch. A total off four steps. We are proud of him! He still is much more confident in his crawling, but I think little by little he will see the benefit of walking.

There are so many things I want to remember about Blake. He is so funny and likes the strangest things.

It is evident he has a musical ear. He can be caught humming and copying a tune. It's really cute. He loves when we clap for him after he 'sings.' Matt's OK with him having some music talent as long as he likes sports.

Which brings me to...he loves throwing balls! He can raise his arm back and give a pretty good throw. It's impressive.

Blake's two favorite things right now are probably going outside and going to look at my parents dog Aussie.

Here are a list of his current 'words'
Mom
Dad
Binky
Ah oh
Doggie
Aussie
Ethan

His listening comprehension is really starting to develop. When I ask him if he wants 'mama's milk' before a nap he spits out his binky (we really need to work on this weaning thing....). He also squeezes our necks when we ask for a hug. We ask for his hugs frequently around here. When I tell him we are going to see Ethan he gets so excited and starts looking around.

He loves helping me clean. When he throws food on the ground I get him out of his high chair and he picks up a few pieces and puts them in my napkin. He also loves using the dishcloth to wipe his tray when he is done eating. Of course he doesn't really clean it, but it's cute to see him try.

Blake is so social. If there are other toddlers around he doesn't even pay any attention to me. He is 100% focused on keeping up with his friends.

Back to his love of being outside, today was in the 50's! Hurrah! We played outside for an hour this afternoon on the tramp, teeter-totter, slide, in the sand, and with chalk. He was in heaven. His aunt Alysa played with us too when she got home from school. She can pogo stick for hours. I'm not kidding. And check out our cool moves on the tramp. We have fun.
