Blake's Blessing

This last weekend we blessed Blake and it was absolutely perfect! For those of you that don't know what it means to bless a baby, it isn't to be confused with infant baptism. It is rather a blessing where Blake is given the name he will go by on this earth and on the records of the church, Blake Matthew Jensen, and then he is given a special blessing to help guide him in his life. A baby blessing isn't essential for salvation or anything, it is just very special to us.

Lots of family and friends came to town to celebrate Blake with us. Matt's dad, Olga, and Katie won the award for traveling the furthest... All they way from South Carolina! We were so happy they could finally meet Blake and be here for such a special day.

My sisters Erica and Robyn and their families were also able to fly in for the occasion... Well everyone minus Robyn's husband Chris who had to work.

We started the weekend off with dinner at Wild Mustang Grill, a new favorite, on Friday evening.

On Saturday morning we had the traditional family bagel breakfast and scripture study... My dad gets a dozen of Einstein bagels every Saturday morning.

Then we went to Tucanos for lunch to celebrate my brother Brady's 16th birthday. Unfortunately he was kind of sick but he was a trouper anyways.

That afternoon was then spent preparing food for the next day. With 9:00 church I wanted to make sure we had as little to so in the morning as possible. The menu included a waffle bar with all the toppings, breakfast casserole, and a healthier option of steel cut oats. So we got to work slicing 18 lbs of strawberries, making cute name signs for the waffle bar toppings, making two HUGE restaurant trays of breakfast casserole and setting everything out that we could. It was a lot of work but made the morning so smooth and enjoyable, something I was aiming for.

We ended up having about 70 friends and family join us on Sunday at church and then afterwards for our celebration brunch. From talking with most people, everyone completely over indulged and loved the brunch!

And in true Megan manner, I totally intended to get a picture of the food but forgot. However, I did get fun pictures of some of the family.

Despite all the delicious food consumed this weekend, the highlight truly was Blake's beautiful blessing given by Matt who holds the priesthood. And then in very close second was being able to be together as a family as Brady was ordained to the office of Priest within the priesthood. I am so proud of him for the wonderful life choices he has made! He will make a wonderful missionary in just a few short years.
