My parents brought all of us kids (and our little families) over to the UK for some family togetherness and so we could learn more about our English roots. It's been an amazing trip thus far.
The plane ride over here exceeded my expectations. I imagined Blake having a tough time not having the freedom to run around, but he slept a lot and we had plenty of fun surprises to keep him entertained.
My mom is a pro at flying with little kids (she moved to china with 8 kids) and she recommended we each bring a little back pack with new, wrapped toys for the kids. Every so often they would get to unwrap a new toy. It worked great.
We met up with Erica, Coleman, and their family in Atlanta. After some great food court tacos we boarded our plane to London.
My cute parents leading the way.
We landed in London at 7:00 a.m. and had a full day ahead of us despite not having a nights sleep. We drove to the London temple. The grounds were amazing and the temple itself was beautiful. I always feel so much peace whenever I walk on the temple grounds; this was no exception.
After checking into our hotel on Leicester Square we found an LDS chapel (Hyde Park Chapel) to listen to a session of conference. We were all pretty exhausted by this point. The dim lights, the soft voices of the speakers, we had pretty much set ourselves up for failure. We each dosed off a few times, but we did our best.
In efforts to stay awake, we opted to not go back to the hotel and relax (like our bodies were telling us to do) but instead took a stroll through downtown London. We ended up at Buckingham Palace. London is full of so much amazing architecture. It was the most entertaining Sunday stroll I've had in... well ever.
